Which setting belongs to which control?
Frontier identifies the filter network as the salinity control and the staff gate as the temperature control. GAMES.GG’s interface guide locates temperature under the aquarium Info Panel’s Environment tab. Check all tanks on a shared network before changing its water type.
- Check each resident’s current Zoopedia salinity and temperature range.
- Inspect the aquarium’s connected filtration network and choose the shared water type there.
- Use the aquarium environment controls associated with the staff gate to set temperature; check power if the controls are unavailable.
- Recheck the animals’ actual welfare indicators after the environment changes.
Real species examples from the official records
Sunfish and Koi overlap at 18–25 °C, but their listed water types do not overlap. That pair illustrates why a temperature match is not a complete compatibility check. Sunfish and Great Hammerhead share water settings at 20–25 °C, but that still does not establish a listed mutual social relationship.
The aquarium planner checks both kinds of overlap and shows relationship evidence separately. For species allowing more than one salinity, choose one common setting for the whole selection instead of assuming the first option is always right.
| Species | Salinity | Temperature |
|---|---|---|
| Ocean Sunfish | Saltwater | 10–25 °C |
| Great Hammerhead | Saltwater | 20–28 °C |
| Koi | Freshwater | 18–25 °C |
Why welfare can stay low after water conditions match

Temperature and salinity are only part of the care record. Review the animal’s usable space, preferred group, feeding and enrichment requirements as well as water and tank cleanliness. A matching value in one category does not cancel a warning in another.
Koi and other dual-placement species have an aquarium model and an exhibit option. Do not reuse aquarium area or group arithmetic as an exhibit specification. Shoaling species also need their own in-game group interpretation rather than treating every visible fish as a separate adult.
A short decision path for persistent warnings
For a connection problem, continue to aquarium filtration. For dirty water or surfaces, use water versus tank cleanliness.
- No shared salinity: split the selection into suitable tanks and networks.
- No temperature overlap: choose a different species mix or separate environments.
- Shared ranges exist but no control response: check power and network connection.
- Water conditions match but welfare remains low: inspect the other named welfare categories, then consult the species care page.
