37 AQUARIUM SPECIES · OFFICIAL RECORDS CHECKED OCT 18, 2026
Check shared water conditions before buying animals. A matching temperature is not proof that species can live together.

What the calculator checks
Temperature is the intersection of the selected animals’ published minimum and maximum values. Salinity is the set of water types shared by every selection. No overlap means a shared setting cannot satisfy these records; it does not mean a different filter can solve the species mismatch.
Each pair is checked in both directions against the official Thriving and Neutral lists. A one-sided or absent relationship stays unconfirmed. Neutral does not provide a Thriving bonus, and even a mutual pairing still needs suitable space, feeding, enrichment and terrain.
The base-plus-additional-adult formula is an estimate for one species at a time, not a certified mixed-tank total. Juveniles, shoal sizes, sex balance, traversability and changes in the game’s welfare calculations are outside the estimate. Verify the actual requirement in the in-game animal panel.
Why some numbers are intentionally not calculated
Shoaling fish do not map cleanly to an individual-adult count, so this planner compares their water conditions and relationships but does not calculate their area. Aquarium/exhibit animals use the aquarium record here, not an exhibit-tank specification.
Deep-water area in square metres is not volume in litres. The tool does not estimate filter demand, maintenance cost or food expenses. It also does not label unknown data as zero. For a practical build sequence, use the aquarium guide.
Turn the comparison into a working tank
Need a starting point? Read the Ocean Sunfish care guide or Koi aquarium guide, then open the filtration checklist if the tank is not functioning.
- Choose species and check shared water conditions before placing animals.
- Review the pair-by-pair evidence and preferred population limits; replace an unconfirmed pairing if you cannot check it in game.
- Build and connect the aquarium, then verify filtration, power, staff access and the actual usable water area.
- Inspect each resident’s welfare after adoption and after any population or enclosure change.
