Why does the processor matter so much?

Frontier explains that a creative management game needs more processing power as your zoo fills with animals and guests, and leans less on the graphics card. If lowering graphics settings does not change your frame rate, the processor is the limit. On laptops, Frontier suggests extra cooling so the CPU can hold higher speeds.

Both specs are measured on a well built-up zoo, so a new zoo will run faster than these targets.

Does Planet Zoo 2 run on Windows 10?

Yes, it is in the minimum spec, with a caveat in Frontier’s notes: Microsoft has ended support for Windows 10, so Frontier cannot guarantee it will stay compatible. Windows 11 is the recommended system.

Is Planet Zoo 2 on Steam Deck?

Yes. Valve rates it Steam Deck Verified, which Frontier announced on September 14, 2026. Valve’s report says the default controller layout works fully, on-screen glyphs match the Deck’s buttons, text is legible and the default settings perform well.

One note in the same report: first-time setup needs an active internet connection, so start the game once while online before taking the Deck somewhere without Wi-Fi.

Can you play Planet Zoo 2 on a Mac?

Not natively. The FAQ says there are no plans for macOS, and the Steam listing is Windows only. The officially supported way to play without Windows is NVIDIA GeForce NOW, which streams the game from the cloud; Frontier’s FAQ names it for players without a high-spec PC or current console.

What languages does Planet Zoo 2 support?

English, French, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese have full audio on Steam. Polish, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Russian, Thai and Traditional Chinese are text only.

What accessibility options are there?

  • UI scaling and font scale up to 100%
  • Colour Vision Deficiency mode
  • Separate audio sliders for ambience, animals and human sounds
  • Phobia image replacement
  • Camera comfort settings and play without timed input, per the Steam listing
