Can you play Planet Zoo 2 with friends?
Not in the same zoo. There is no co-op, split-screen or shared building; the PlayStation Store lists it as a 1-player game and the Microsoft Store as single-player. The social parts happen around your own zoos: trading animals and sharing creations.
What is online in Planet Zoo 2?
| Feature | What it does | Needs internet |
|---|---|---|
| Franchise mode | Build a network of zoos and Wildlife Reserves, trade animals with other players and join community conservation efforts | Yes |
| Frontier Workshop | Browse, download and subscribe to blueprints and parks made by other players, inside the game | Yes |
| Sharing parks | Upload your own blueprints and parks for other players | Yes |
| Career and Sandbox | Single-player modes | No, once downloaded |
Does Planet Zoo 2 need an internet connection?
Only for the online features. The FAQ says you can play offline once the game is downloaded, but you need to be connected to download Workshop blueprints or share parks with friends. The PlayStation listing marks online play as optional.
Is there crossplay?
For sharing creations, yes: the Workshop works across platforms, so a blueprint built on PC can be placed in a zoo on PS5 or Xbox. Frontier has not said whether Franchise mode animal trading is shared across platforms. The modes are explained in Planet Zoo 2 game modes, and the Workshop in mods and the Workshop.
